Johnson Hardware announces all-steel split studs for the 1500SC Series Pocket Door Frame in its latest product upgrade. The 1500SC Pocket Door Frame previously used steel-wrapped wood studs. The new galvanized all-steel split studs resist warping and rust. When used with the 1515-PLY pocket wall reinforcement clip set and 5/8” thick plywood, walls become significantly stronger, and are more resistant to flexing or bowing in or out.

The changes to the 1500SC make the frame more versatile, too. The 2x4 construction frame no longer requires the 1575 adaptor kit for 1-3/4” thick doors. With narrower studs, the frame allows an additional ¼” pocket clearance. The new all-steel studs allow for a larger 2-1/4” wide pocket, without sacrificing quality.

The 1500SC Pocket Door Frame comes already equipped with all the necessities. It features Soft-Close/Soft-Open hardware that allows doors up to 165 lbs. to be closed with the touch of a fingertip, so there’s less risk of pinched fingers and slamming. The frame also comes with self-tapping screws that will work for both drywall and finish trim.

The 1500SC frame utilizes a “jump proof” aluminum box track and trouble-free hangers with 1” wheels on convex rails. Ideal for 1” to 1-3/4” thick doors, up to 60” wide x 108” high. The 1500SC frame also works well with 4” steel studded walls. Just ask for Johnson’s new Stud Wall Adaptor Kit.

Adding a pocket door with Johnson Hardware frees up to 14 sq. ft of floor space otherwise lost to a traditional swing door. It creates privacy between rooms and easier entryways. A pocket door can increase accessibility in the busiest rooms, from the kitchen to the mudroom. It can save precious floor space around a closet or in a bathroom.

The new all-steel stud 1500SC Pocket Door Frame only takes a handyman about an hour to install, not any longer than the original steel-wrapped wood stud pocket door frame.   Adding a pocket door with the new 1500SC frame is just as easy and convenient as ever. The all-steel split studs are also available in the following Johnson Hardware Series pocket door frames: 2060, 2000, 1560 and 1562.

Johnson’s smooth-rolling pocket door hardware and track exceed ANSI standards, which means it can successfully complete 100,000 opening and closing cycles.
